ESA Communications

There are two main ways that ESA communicates with families - through ParentSquare and through myESA.

ParentSquare is an app that allows parents to choose whether to receive emails, texts, and/or app notifications from teachers, coaches, and group leaders. We also send Emergency Alerts through ParentSquare (or StudentSquare) to parents, faculty and students for information about school closures and other immediate issues. It's important that parents choose at least one option — email, text, or app notification — to receive these alerts. You can download the app using one of the green buttons below. You can also access ParentSqaure on a desktop computer. Look for an invitation email to set up your account.

myESA is our portal system. The Resources tab has tiles with all kinds of information for families. myESA is also where families fill out forms, check student progress, view report cards, register for classes each year, and more. Parents receive emails throughout the year as myESA resources are needed. Access myESA using the green button at the top right corner of the ESA website.

ParentSquare Information

Once you receive an email invitation to join ParentSquare, please take the time to activate your account and make sure you can access ParentSquare on your computer, and if desired, through the app.

The best way to get started with ParentSquare is to watch their 15-minute Parent Training video or to take the self-guided Parent 101 mini-course that should take about 15 minutes. The Help section is full of articles describing all of ParentSquare's features.

If you'd rather jump right in to using ParentSquare, here's where to start:

1)  Once you have activated your account, please set your notification preferences.

  • In the app, click on the hamburger menu, choose Account, and Notifications.
or
  • On your computer, click on your name at the top right. Go to My Account, then Notification Settings.

2)  Choose what you would like to appear in the School Directory. The default is your email address and your phone number. This article will walk you through hiding contact information. If you would like to exclude your family from the School Directory in ParentSquare, which is visible only to ESA teachers, students, and parents, please email communications@esacadiana.com

Cade campus students will use a similar app called StudentSquare. Students DO NOT need a mobile phone to use StudentSquare. They will still receive emails, and they will receive any Direct Messages (group chats) as emails. They will be able to reply to the email to be a part of the group chat. Teachers and coaches will let families know how they will be using ParentSquare and StudentSquare for classes, teams, and groups.

myESA Directory Settings

myESA also has parent, student, and faculty directories. To edit your personal information and choose what shows in the myESA directory:

In the myESA dropdown menu next to your name, select Profile to verify the information that we have listed and make any changes necessary. Please do not delete the information listed here. This connects directly to our database and will be used by school administrators to contact your family. Follow the directions below if you wish to hide your information in the directory.

Once you have updated your information, select Settings from that same dropdown menu to choose your Privacy preferences. Be sure to select preferences for each group listed in blue - students, teachers, parents...

Students, please do not choose to hide your information. Your teachers will not be able to see your contact information, and you may miss important announcements. Use the preferences for each of the groups to choose what information will be seen by students and parents.
