Experience Connections



Community can be seen in many ways at ESA. Arts and athletics that welcome any student to participate. From the applause after every chapel presentation or coffee house performance, to the lockers without locks and the backpacks that line the sidewalks, our sense of community comes from our shared values of honor, trust and respect.

  • Student Government

    ESA's Student Council shapes community life, from Falcon Cup competitions to holiday celebrations to representing student interests. The student-led Honor and Discipline Councils give students a central role in maintaining the environment of trust and respect that characterizes ESA.

  • Clubs

    Outing Club, language clubs, future business leaders, political clubs, culinary society... ESA's clubs offer something for everyone, and if a student doesn't find a club to meet her interests, she's encouraged to start one. Through our fall Club Fair, club leaders share their plans for the year.

  • Community Service

    Student Council, class officers and individuals engage the community through service projects, including holding donation drives, playing bingo at a local nursing home, growing vegetables to donate and forming work crews. In the Middle School, service is tied to learning as year-long lessons culminate in service projects.

  • Advisory

    Through advisory, students develop close bonds with teachers who serve as mentors, advocates and sounding boards. Meeting weekly in small groups, students and advisors discuss campus issues or simply relax together. Advisors monitor advisees’ academic progress and share both struggles and successes with parents.


Chapel at ESA

On the Cade campus, middle and upper schoolers come together three times a week for chapel. Every chapel is different, with students and faculty sharing stories and life lessons, our chaplain leading worship, seniors offering advice and shout-outs in their senior chapels, drama and music groups performing, clubs presenting and houses competing. On the Lafayette campus, chapel is held every day, with teachers and students preparing short presentations centered around scripture or personal experiences. Music and laughter are often a part of chapel. Both campuses end chapel time with announcements, and once a month, we celebrate Eucharist.
