I have been part of this community for more than 20 years, as a parent, teacher, administrator and now head of school, and I can say with complete confidence that the future has never looked brighter. We have a school full of creative and innovative students and faculty who live the ideals of ESA and every day create the culture of excellence that exists here.

A Lifelong Scholar

Dr. Paul Baker earned a Ph.D. in Evolutionary and Environmental Biology at the University of Louisiana Lafayette. He also holds a Master of Science in Paleoecology from UL Lafayette, and a multidisciplinary Bachelor's degree in the areas of Anthropology, Music Composition and Chemical Engineering.
A Talented Musician

Married to Lauren Baker, concertmaster for the Acadiana Symphony, with children Garrett, ’97, and Maren, ’02, Dr. Baker has been a part of the Acadiana community for more than thirty years. He is an active and sought after composer with commissions from churches, Chorale Acadienne and the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra. His original music and arrangements have been played around the country and his Requiem of Psalms premiered in Carnegie Hall in 2005.
An ESA Veteran

Before taking on the role of Interim Headmaster for the 2013-2014 school year, Dr. Baker served as Head of the Upper and Middle Schools for five years. In his twenty years as a member of the ESA faculty, he taught science and music in the middle and upper schools, produced musicals, coached the golf team, provided music for chapels and other functions and served on numerous committees. His leadership reflects his variety of experiences, as well as his love for ESA.

Episcopal School of Acadiana is a private coeducational day school for students in grades PK3 through 12. Our mission is to instill in every student the habits of scholarship and honor.
