Wyoming Adventure

Fifth graders have made the most of their trip to Teton Science Schools in Jackson, Wyoming. This week, they have considered how natural and human forces affect landscapes, and how a better understanding of our roles within communities can help us to connect with them and contribute to them. The students learned about how tectonic plates formed the mountains and how glacial lakes sculpted the Grand Tetons. Hiking in Teton National Park, the groups made their way to glacial lakes and learned about ASCAR (Alpine, Sagebrush, Conifers, Aspen, Riparian) communities. On their Adventure Hike, the students took charge of reading the maps and guiding their groups to designated locations. They've learned so much about the beautiful Greater Yellowstone ecosystem and its inhabitants, and about their own capabilities both individually and as members of a group working together!
