Oliver Eble, '26

Oliver Eble, '26, started his ESA journey in sixth grade. A Lafayette resident, Oliver takes part in ESA Tennis, Yearbook, Med Sciences Club, the Brent Henley Youth Leadership Program, and the Louisiana Youth Seminar. He says the freedom, the campus, and the helpful teachers are what make ESA unique.

Here's out Q&A with Oliver:

Who has inspired you as a learner and why?

Dr. Carey (recently retired English department chair). Her class was one of my favorite classes at ESA. She taught in a really engaging and fun way that made it easy and fun to learn in her class. I never really loved English class until I came to her to class, and I am very appreciative that I had her as a teacher.

What has been your most challenging moment at ESA?  How did you get through it?

The Bio Midterm. This exam was extremely difficult to the point that I consider it the hardest exam I have ever taken. The way I got through it was taking a deep breath and taking it one step at a time. I went through the questions that I knew, then I slowly got through the questions I did not really know. By the end of the exam, I had answered all of the questions, which was good enough for me.

If you had a month to study anything in the world, what would you be passionate about learning?

The ocean. I would love to learn more about the animals that live in the ocean, specifically whales, and I would like to study the parts of the ocean that have not been discovered.

Is there anything you’d like to share with the community about your ESA experience?

Coming to ESA was one of the best moments in my life. ESA is such a different type of high school experience that is unlike anywhere else. The campus makes ESA what it is; it feels like you're not even at a high school.

Thanks, Oliver!
