Leading in Health

In December, Dr. Pete Croughan, '08, was named Deputy Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Health. This week, he was also named the interim state health officer. A native of Crowley, Pete graduated from Yale University with a degree in History of Science and Medicine. He earned an M.D. from the University of California, San Francisco, and completed an internal medicine residency at Harvard Medical School - Massachusetts General Hospital. Pete worked with the Louisiana Department of Health from 2017 to 2020 as Policy Director, Chief of Staff, and Special Advisor. Since finishing his residency, he has worked as an addiction and internal medicine physician at the Acadiana Area Human Services District in Lafayette and Crowley.
