Here's our Q&A with Sadie:
Tell us about the program you completed this summer.
The program I went to this summer was Core Filmmaking at SOCAPA (School of Creative and Performing Arts). They hold this camp in 3 different locations, and mine was in Burlington, Vermont. I chose to take on this adventure so I could gain more experience and knowledge on filmmaking as a professional career. I wanted to learn about the other aspects filmmaking requires, such as writing, directing, sound producing, and so much more.
What did you take away from the experience?
I learned filmmaking is not just being behind the camera. It takes so many people to create one final piece. That showed me that in developing this career, I would have options in the future. The more important thing I took away was being able to now write, direct, and edit my own videos in a more personal way. Writing and directing in a more professional way will allow me to grow my portfolio as well as show people how my skills have developed and how far I’ve grown.
