ESA’s eighth graders set off on a wilderness adventure in the Pisgah National Forest of North Carolina in October. The backpackers carry their own food, shelter and clothing for the five day hike, and share the chores of cooking, setting up sleeping tarps and cleaning up the sites to leave no trace. The trip also includes rock climbing and whitewater rafting. Globetrek, as the ESA community calls the trip, has been an ESA tradition for more than forty years.
Another ESA tradition - writing about the trip in eighth-grade English classes and sharing some of the stories and lessons in chapel. Find more photos and quotes from some of the writers here.
