Mason Shuffler, '17

Mason Shuffler, ’17, played four years of baseball at Washington & Lee University before graduating with an economics degree in 2021. Moving to Charlotte, NC, he began his career in investment banking, then moved to an operations role for an IT partnership platform.

Mason says ESA prepared him by emphasizing the importance of not only working hard but also caring about your work. “ESA gives you the skill set and tools you need to grow out of your shell, develop your character, and succeed in the real world,” he says.

Mason’s favorite ESA memories are the ones he made his senior year of basketball. “We had a great team that year,” he says. “We had a very tight knit group of guys who worked extremely hard to turn the program around from where we started as freshmen.” Mason adds that nothing beat spending time outside in the quad in the spring. An outside campus is something he says he definitely took for granted.

Mason’s advice for future Falcon graduates: “Immerse yourself in anything and everything that ESA has to offer. Take the class that you think will challenge you, give a new sport a try, start that new club that you've been thinking about. ESA offers you the opportunity to do anything that piques your interest and run with it. It's up to the student to take the initiative and make it happen.”

Thanks, Mason!
