Courirs and Service

With the Mardi Gras carnival in Cade and Courir in Lafayette, ESA students on both campuses mixed in service as well as fun. Lower School students and teachers held their annual Courir des Faucons on Friday. PK3 and third-grade students, dressed in prairie-style Mardi Gras costumes and led by capitaines, visited each classroom to dance and to collect the food brought in to donate to Solomon House in New Iberia for families who need assistance over the holiday break. Along with the Courir, students participated in stations, including a gumbo stop, a fais-do-do, and chasing the chicken games. On the Cade Campus, Upper School Student Council and Eco Club hosted a costume contest for upcycled Courir de Mardi Gras costumes. Middle and upper school students repurposed unwanted and resale items to craft costumes for the carnival. Congratulations to the winner, Jae Rainey! STUCO also led a chicken chase, a king cake eating contest, and games. Following the break, STUCO and Eco Club will collect beads to bring to LARC. Happy Mardi Gras!
